Vesgro Plant & Equipment are on their way to the National Ploughing Championships!
Vesgro Plant & Equipment are busy preparing their exhibition stand for the upcoming National Ploughing Championships, which takes place this September.
Following their hugely successful outing at the Fermanagh County Show, CEO Sean Flynn and his team have now turned their attention quickly towards Offaly.
The 2017 Championships will be held at Screggan, Tullamore from September 19th – 21st 2017. Over the years, the vent has expanded from requiring a small field of 26 acres to an area of over 700 acres of land today.
Within this, the site now requires 180 acres for ploughing, 100 acres for trade stands and exhibition space, 400 acres of car parking and a demonstration area of approximately 25 acres. Since its inception, the National Ploughing Championships has become much more than just an annual inter-county competition; it has become an intrinsic part of Irish rural life.
The National Championships is now no longer just for ploughing or machinery enthusiasts, the modern event now features something for just about every member of the community.
These include a Tented Trade Village, a Food Fair, Craft Village, Livestock, Forestry, Education, Lifestyle, Motor Show, Financial Services, Bio Energy and Agri Service. Along with this, there are many entertainment and special events taking place.
Some of these include: Fashion Shows, Celebrity Guests, Sheep Dog Trials, Loy Digging, All Ireland Lamb Shearing, Most Appropriately Dressed Lady & Gent Competitions, Craft Demonstrations, Meggers, Celebrity Cookery Demonstrations, Outdoor Radio Broadcasts and much more.
With all this happening, the Championships attracts in excess of 1,700 exhibitors and up to 283,000 visitors. Speaking this week, Vesgro sales executive Michael Boyle said that he and indeed the entire Vegro work force can’t wait for the show to come around.
He said: “This is what we’ve been looking forward to and planning towards from way out. We’d such a positive experience in Fermanagh at their recent show. It showed to us the importance and value that these kinds of events open up – business wise – to us.
“Enniskillen was buzzing – a real hive of activity. We secured a really good number of sales over the course of the two days and we introduced ourselves and our business to a wide range of people. This is on a huge scale, another level completely. Anyone that has ever attended the National Ploughing Championships will tell you that they’re blown away by the sheer size of it.
“We’ll use the next number of weeks to plan our approach to that.”
